Raw Feeding

Welcome to Rosewind Dachshunds.

Our small farm is located in the beautiful Skagit Valley of Northwest Washington , just and hour and half north of Seattle and 5 hours from Portland, Oregon.  We have a small breeding program of mini long-haired Dachshunds. I home school our children and so am able to be at home each day with our dogs and their puppies.  Our dogs are our pets and family members first of all and a source of daily joy and laughter.

We are dedicated to breeding according to breed standard, health and for the best of that wonderful dachshund disposition.     We are putting that same dedication in the raising of our puppies to be well-socialized companions and pets with vibrant good health.  We spend extensive time with the puppies giving the input needed to help them develop.

Our puppies begin their days in our bedroom and as they open their eyes and begin to move around we move them down into the kitchen in the middle of family life. They are held and loved and exposed to all of the noise and fun of a family.  Soon they are taken outside to explore the great outdoors and of course smell the roses!

It is a priority for our family to eat fresh organic, homegrown and homemade food and live without chemicals in the home.  Likewise it is only commonsense that our puppies and adults are naturally reared without the use of vaccines (free book link-Natural Immunity), kibble, or chemical flea treatment.  They are fed a species appropriate diet of  raw meaty bones (RMB) and a variety of meat and organs.  We began to feed raw over 4 yrs ago after trying a variety of high quality kibbles.  I was just not satisfied with my dogs coats, ears and general health.  I had heard of raw feeding for years and decided to make the change.  They all have shiny coats, no itchy ears, healthy teeth and unbounded energy.   Since raw feeding our mothers do not blow their coats after whelping and recover quickly.  Our puppies first food is ground meat, raw eggs and a bit of milk.  Its not long before they are devouring bones and chunks of meat.  Our desire is to find homes for our puppies where they will continue to be fed a raw home-made diet and kept vaccine free. I'm to answer questions so feel free to email me:   paradachs@gmail.com
