Welcome to Rosewind Dachshunds. On our small farm in the beautiful
Skagit Valley of Northwest Washington we have begun a careful breeding
program of mini long-haired Dachshunds. I home school our children and so am
able to be at home each day with our
dogs and their puppies. Our dogs are our pets and family members first
of all and a source of daily joy.
We are so thankful for the wonderful input and mentoring by other breeders and for
Midger and
Miles and the privilege of
showing them.
We are dedicated to breeding according to breed standard and for the best of that wonderful dachshund disposition. To
this end we have begun showing and striving to meet the standard and use our
breeding program to improve and help the breed. We are putting that same dedication in the raising of our puppies to be well-socialized companions and pets.
We spend extensive time with the puppies giving the input needed to help
them develop.
Our puppies begin
their days in our bedroom and as they open their eyes and begin to move
around we move them down into the kitchen in the middle of family life. They
are held and loved and exposed to all of the noise and fun of a family. Soon
they are taken outside to explore the great outdoors and of course smell the
roses!We
have begun to feed our dogs a raw homemade diet and love the results and the
control we have over their nutrition. They daily have raw meaty bones
(RMB) and a mix of meat and organs, vegetables and herbs. We're
seeking to learn more each day and perfect their diet as we learn.
We'd love to help you learn more if you are interested and encourage our
puppy buyers to feed raw for the health and happiness of their puppy.
We are also
following a revised vaccine protocol with our puppies according to Dr
Jean Dodd, vaccinating with parvo and distemper only at 9 weeks and again 4
weeks later. You can find more information

We believe that we
have beautiful, loveable dogs and think that you will agree. On our puppy

We will never sell to pet stores or puppy mills and reserve the right to screen and re-screen in the placement of our babies.
